There appears to be a difference in opinion between the SmartMotor manual and SMI software about which of the two limit ports is positive and which is negative.

Based on what I see in SMI when I issue the EILN and EILP commands, and also consistent with the port pinouts on page 58 of the SmartMotor Revision 5.23 User Guide, I would conclude that io2 is the positive over-travel limit and io3 is the negative over-travel limit.

However, there is conflicting information elsewhere in the documentation: page 56 of the User Guide, under the heading "I/O Ports 2 and 3 - Travel Liit Inputs", and also the description of EILN and EILP commands in the 'Command Set Overview', describe io2 as the negative limit and io3 as the positive limit. These descriptions appear to be typos.

Am I correct in my assumption io2 is for the positive limit and io3 is for the negative limit?

You are correct. IO2 is Positive and IO3 is Negative. Only normally closed switches are supported.
(Sorry... my first post was incorrect)
