Odd Motor Behavior

Hello. We have a SM2315D that uses software code to rotate an assembly. This assembly was recently modified requiring less torque than before. This has caused the stepper motor, upon power up, to start oscillating back and forth in both directions with the drive amplifier going on and off. If I apply a force or torque with my finger to the motor shaft then the motor behaves as it should. Also, I can't seem to get the motor to move in SMI Playground. Any feedback or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

You may need to clear the flags in the SMI playground for it to be able to move.

The oscillation may be due to the tuning parameters used with the previous load. Please contact tech support at 888-356-0357. We may need to review your program to solve the problem.

Thanks csearcy! The problem was in fact the tuning parameters, which were overlooked. I have re-tuned and uploaded the new parameters into the software and everything works now.
