We have several installations with class 4 SM2315's, and our newer installations have class 5 SM2316's. We have our own software that controls these motors. There is a difference between the class 4 and 5 command sets, so our sw needs a way to determine which model of motor it is talking to (i e, class 4 or class 5). Is there a simple way for the sw to determine this?
Please download the "Class 5 411 Info Please.sms" program from the following link. It shows the memory locations that hold the motor type and other data.
What is this pgm expected to do if the motor is class 4? I believe some or all of our solder motors are 2315's without the data EEPROM option. Will these still work with the info pgm?
Here's a shortcut. If you issue the command RSP (works for Class4 and Class5)... you will get the sample period followed by a / and the firmware revision.
Ex. Class5 RSP
12500/5.97.3.233
Ex. Class4 RSP
24576/440C
Interesting. For class 4, RSP is listed under "reporting commands" on p 45, but not in the appendix. RPW is listed in the appendix, but not in the "reporting commands" on p 45.
For class 5, RPW is not listed anywhere that I can find, so apparently it isn't a valid command.
Yes... RPW is not valid for Class5... but RSP works with Class4 and Class5.
