Address loss on motors

Hi,

In 1 of our applications we are using 3 SMART-motors communicating via RS232.
These are controlled by Labview.

At a random point in our process, the motors stop communicating and Labview gives a Serial Buffer Read Error.
After this error we can't find the motors on the RS232 chain (Using the SMI interface).

When we disconnect and reconnect the RSR232 connector from the PC's the motors can be found, but need to be addressed again.
After re-addressing, the application works perfectly for aprox. 2 days and then regenerates the same error.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

This could be due to using a switching power supply. It may help to address the motors in case the power supply drops out (switchers can do this in a fraction of a second). Please try using a linear power supply or a switcher with higher wattage.

Hi, excuse me for not to response your answer. I want to make you a question. How do you ptogram your SmartMotor with Labviw???

Could you help me or send me your VI's???

Hi Dave,

I'm sorry, but I do not have Labview to develope a VI file for the Smartmotor. I will inquire about purchasing a liscense for Labview.
